How can we promote the use of AI for the common good? Our mission statement defines a shared understanding of the vision, goals and content of our initiative. Considering the input, ideas and perspectives from civil society, we have developed our scope of action which is detailed in our mission statement. We explain the principles of our work, our objectives and our fields of action.
The initiative "Civic Coding - Innovation Network AI for the common good" promotes the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) for the common good. We have developed and jointly adopted a mission statement, to define a shared understanding of the vision, goals and content of the initiative.
It describes our fields of action and objectives, which were developed considering input, ideas and perspectives of civil society.
Responsible for the mission statement are the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS), the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV).
The way the initiative works is based on four principles, explained in our mission statement:
- Participatory
- Demand-driven
- Transparent
- Interdepartmental
We have developed our mission statement against the backdrop of the following AI strategy objectives:
- To spread the social development and use of AI for the common good
- To promote AI skills on a broad scale
- To take up social impetus for the social and sustainable design of AI technology
To achieve these overarching goals, we have defined objectives and outcomes in the following five fields of action in our mission statement:
- Information and agenda setting
- Networking, capacity building and incubation
- Funding
- Infrastructures and standards
- Framework conditions and discourse
Finally, our mission statement sets out how we measure the impact of our activities.
